The mishap occurred at the scenic Bulchol waterfall, located in Bolsom Bagan under the Harangajao area. The deceased were identified as Sauhard Rai and Sarbavartika Singh, both aged 20 and residents of Uttar Pradesh, and Radhika, aged 19, from Bihar.

Officials said the trio had travelled to Harangajao for a short trip when they lost balance near the waterfall and were swept away by strong currents. “All three bodies were eventually retrieved from the water but were declared dead by doctors,” an official said. A medical team had been deployed nearby to handle any emergency during the rescue efforts.

After hours of intensive search operations, Sarbavartika’s body was found on Saturday evening, while the bodies of Sauhard and Radhika were recovered early Sunday. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the NIT Silchar campus, where students and faculty members paid heartfelt tributes. Authorities have once again urged tourists to remain vigilant while visiting waterfalls and hilly locations.
