Transport Minister Suklabaidya holds review meeting with ASTC officials in Ghy; asks officials to increase revenue collection in state

SILCHAR , Feb.11: Minister for Transport, Excise & Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya chaired a high level meeting with Commissioner and Secretary of Transport department, Adil Khan, Chairman of ASTC, Mission Ranjan Das, MD of ASTC, Rahul Das and other senior officials of Assam Transport and ASTC at Janata Bhawan, Dispur on Thursday.

During the discussion, Minister Suklabaidya primarily focused on increasing the revenue of Assam Transport Department with special emphasis on ASTC.

The Minister directed the officials of ASTC to ensure that no buses remain dysfunctional due to breakdown or any such technical faults.

Minister Suklabaidya also held a video conference with DTOs and directed them to ensure that all buses mandatorily issue tickets to passengers and comply with road safety rules.

It is noteworthy to mention that the Commissioner and Secretary of Transport Department has been asked by the Minister to make mandatory branding of toll-free Helpline/Complaint number of Assam Transport Department in all buses, so as to provide assistance to the public in case of any difficulties faced by them while commuting.

Meanwhile, on the direction of Transport Minister to ensure strict compliance of issue of tickets in buses, a vigilance team of ASTC conducted surprise raids on the day for checking of tickets in two CNG buses in Guwahati and dismissed two conductors for not issuing tickets.
