The driver, Kalamuddin Sheikh, told reporters that the incident occurred when a dumper approached the truck. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the truck veered into a damaged drain and became stuck. Fortunately, Sheikh was uninjured. The truck, registered JH 01 FS 4070 was en route from Kolkata to Dibrugarh.

Demow Traffic Police assisted in removing the truck from the drain on Friday. Residents have raised concerns about dust from construction works and poor-quality drains, which have caved in at several points, causing difficulties for pedestrians and vehicles alike. While water sprinkling is being done on the NH-37 road to reduce dust, locals claim it is insufficient.
