Tuliram hints at leadership change in KAAC during BJP ‘Vijay Utsav’

KHERONI, May 17: On the sidelines of the BJP’s mega “Vijay Utsav” celebration held at Dongkamukam in West Karbi Anglong on Sunday, incumbent Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and newly elected Rongkhang MLA Tuliram Ronghang hinted at a possible leadership change in the council, stating that there was no shortage of capable leaders within the BJP to run the autonomous body.

The “Vijay Utsav”, organised by the BJP West Karbi Anglong District Committee in the Rongkhang Legislative Assembly Constituency, was celebrated with enthusiasm following the BJP’s electoral success in the hill districts.

Ronghang, who recently won the newly created Rongkhang Assembly constituency with one of the highest victory margins in Assam, interacted with media persons during the event and said, “The BJP will rule. Team Karbi Anglong will rule. There is no lack of leaders in the BJP.”

The programme witnessed the participation of BJP leaders, workers and supporters from across the region.

Those present included BJP West Karbi Anglong District Committee president Radip Ronghang, Member of Parliament Amar Sing Tisso and newly elected MLAs from Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong — Habbey Teron, Niso Terangpi, Lunsing Teron and Surjya Rongphar.

Thousands of BJP supporters attended the celebration, with slogans in support of the party and Dr Ronghang echoing throughout the venue. Political observers noted that the event reflected a changing political landscape in the hill districts of Assam following the BJP’s strong performance in the Assembly elections.
