DONGKAMUKAM, Aug 4: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief Tuliram Ronghang on Monday asserted that the Autonomous State Demand Committee (APHLC) would not return to power in the council “for the next 50 years”.
Addressing a joining programme at the Middle Langmepi playground under No 7 Kopili MAC constituency, Ronghang claimed that regional party workers “have no future” and that “no development will come” as “there will be none to pursue their problems in the council”.
He said people from every corner of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong were joining the BJP “day by day” as “being with the party in power ensures smooth development”.
Denying APHLC’s charge, he said no panchayati raj system had been implemented in the twin districts and hence no panchayat elections were held.
Ronghang appealed to all residents to come forward to build a peaceful and prosperous Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
Altogether 401 families led by Kangbura Bey and Babu Dera joined the BJP at the programme, which was attended by MLAs Rupsingh Teron and Dorsing Ronghang, as well as KAAC executive members, MACs, board chairmen and senior party leaders.
