GUWAHATI, June 2: Assam Congress president Bhupen Borah has disagreed with the predictions of exit polls and asserted that there was an undercurrent in the state in favour of the opposition party.
“There is no doubt that there was an undercurrent in our favour. This is known to many; however, the media will not accept it publicly,” he said on Sunday.
Borah claimed that the exit polls were published to impress the government.
“Many of the agencies do exit polls to keep the government happy. Moreover, in exit polls, only a small sample size is considered which cannot give the whole picture. Every 3-4 kilometres, the mood of the people changes in the country,” he added.
Borah questioned the efficacy of the exit polls. However, he also mentioned that the exit polls have given the Congress party a relatively good number in Assam.
“Exit polls have predicted at least 3-4 seats for us in Assam. Although I will not say the number I will assure you that both vote percentage and seat will increase for the Congress in the state,” he added.
Meanwhile, the senior Congress leader also said that the fight against the BJP will continue till the saffron party is ousted from power in the state.
