GUWAHATI, Oct 29: With a focus on elevating passenger safety and comfort, the coaches of train No. 12510/12509 (Guwahati – SMVT Bengaluru – Guwahati) tri-weekly express have been transformed into contemporary LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, integrating state-of-the-art features. The inaugural ceremony for the LHB rake was officiated by Smt. Queen Oja, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) at the Guwahati Railway Station on October 29, 2023, with the presence of senior railway officials from Headquarters and the division, alongside other dignitaries.
The newly refurbished LHB train 12510 Guwahati – SMVT Bengaluru tri-weekly Express is scheduled to depart from Guwahati every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at 06:15 hours. Enroute, the train will pass through Kamakhya, New Bongaigaon Jn, New Alipurduar, New Jalpaiguri Jn, Malda Town, Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar, Palasa, Vijayawada, Perambur, and Katpadi. The train comprises 23 LHB Design Coaches, featuring AC 2 tier, AC 3 tier, AC 3 tier Economy, Sleeper Class, and Second Class accommodations for the passengers.
The adoption of LHB coaches comes with numerous advantages. These coaches offer increased space and comfort, with enhanced passenger amenities, ensuring a hassle-free and secure journey. The LHB coaches boast a hydraulic shock absorber and an improved suspension system, promising enhanced riding comfort compared to traditional rakes. Further, each coach features “Modular Interiors,” integrating lighting into the ceiling and luggage racks, along with wider windows. Notably, all LHB coaches are equipped with Controlled Discharge Bathroom Systems and Bio-toilets, presenting an environmentally friendly alternative to ICF coaches.
The move to modernize the Guwahati – SMVT Bengaluru – Guwahati tri-weekly express by converting it into a modern LHB rake is a significant step undertaken by Indian Railways to provide a safer, swifter, and more comfortable travel experience to the people of the North Eastern region.
