KOKRAJHAR, March 20: Eight candidates of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), including president Pramod Boro, filed their nominations on Friday from different constituencies to contest the upcoming Assembly elections 2026.
UPPL candidate for Tamulpur LAC and Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Boro filed his nomination before the returning officer at the DC office in Tamulpur. He was accompanied by Assam cabinet minister and founder president of UPPL, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, along with several senior party leaders.
UPPL candidate for Dotma LAC and party general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary filed his nomination before the returning officer at the DC office in Kokrajhar in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP and party working president Rwngwra Narzary, senior leader Reorea Narzary and other party members.
Sitting MLA and UPPL candidate for Kokrajhar LAC, Lawrence Islary, also filed his nomination to contest the ensuing Assembly elections. UPPL candidates for Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora LACs, Aninda Basumatary and Ayub Hussain Mondal, filed their nominations before the returning officers at the DC office in Kokrajhar.
UPPL candidate for Udalguri LAC, Dipen Boro, filed his nomination at the DC office in Udalguri, accompanied by UPPL president Pramod Boro, cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma and other senior leaders. UPPL candidates for Sidli and Bijni LACs, Ranjit Basumatary and Kamalsingh Narzary respectively, filed their nominations before the returning officer at the DC office in Kajalgaon in Chirang district.
After filing his nomination, UPPL president and former CEM of the Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro, said he is contesting from the Tamulpur constituency and that the party is fielding candidates in 19 constituencies, including 15 LACs in the BTR and four outside the region. He expressed confidence that the UPPL is receiving widespread support across communities and will work for the welfare and development of the people.
Meanwhile, BPF candidate for Sidli LAC and BTC executive member Paniram Brahma filed his nomination before the returning officer at the DC office in Kajalgaon, Chirang district. BPF candidate for Udalguri LAC and deputy CEM of BTC, Rihan Daimary, also filed his nomination at the DC office in Udalguri.
Assam cabinet minister and BPF candidate for Mazbat LAC, Charan Boro, filed his nomination to contest the Assembly elections from the Mazbat constituency. He was accompanied by several senior party leaders and well-wishers during the filing process.
