KOKRAJHAR, Aug 5: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) marked its 10th Foundation Day with a day-long celebration titled Sankalpa Divas at Dotma in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.
The centrally organised event witnessed the participation of party leaders, members, and supporters from across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

UPPL president and Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR, Pramod Boro, hoisted the party flag to begin the celebrations. Assam Cabinet Minister and UPPL founder president, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, paid floral tributes to martyrs who contributed to the party’s journey.
CEM Pramod Boro also offered tributes at the Thulungapuri Samadhi of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
Addressing the gathering, Boro stated that UPPL had steadily grown over the past decade with the people’s support and remained committed to the values of peace, equality, justice, and progress.
He reaffirmed the party’s resolve to build an inclusive and harmonious BTR where all communities thrive with dignity and opportunity.
“The government of BTR has been rendering dedicated services since its inception and will continue working for the development of all communities in the region,” Boro said, adding that the party draws strength from the faith of the people.
Responding to recent remarks by BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary regarding a potential end to the BJP-BPF alliance and contesting all 40 BTC seats, Boro asserted that the UPPL is fully prepared for the upcoming BTC elections.
He added that during his tenure, Mohilary did not attend alliance meetings or BTCLA sessions, despite repeated invitations.
UPPL general secretary Raju Narzary criticised political campaigns based on religious polarisation, stating that UPPL had never allowed communal targeting during elections.
He also accused BJP leader Dilip Saikia of failing to address core issues such as the Sixth Schedule and the rights of people living in Tribal Belts and Blocks during his campaign.
Other senior leaders present at the event included UPPL general secretary Madhab Chandra Chetry, MP Joyanta Basumatary, and MLAs Lawrence Islary and Jiran Basumatary.
