UPPL names 5 more candidates in list

KOKRAJHAR, March 19: The opposition United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has released five more candidate’s names in its third list to contest the upcoming assembly elections.

The list included Ranjit Basumatary for Sidli LAC, Pratibha Brahma for Baokhungri LAC, Ayub Hussain Mondal for Parbatjhora, Pabitra Baro for Goreswar LAC and Rabindra Basumatary for Mazbat LAC.

With the declaration of third list of the candidates from the UPPL party, the toll of contesting constituency goes to 16 to contest the ensuing assembly elections.

UPPL general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary announced the names of the candidates who are representing the UPPL party. He informed that the UPPL party is contesting in all 15 constituencies in Bodoland region and putting candidates also in several constituencies outside of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) as UPPL party has expanded its based among the citizens. He said UPPL party has so far declared names of the candidates for Boko-Chaygaon LAC, Barchala LAC and Gohpur LAC. He said that people cutting across the communities are coming forward to extend support and voting in favour of UPPL party across the contesting constituencies respectively.

He has opined that the UPPL has been rendering its services towards the uplift and development of all communities across the region.

He said Melas, gamblings became a regular phenomenon while the BPF comes to power. He said the illicit gamblings had been unabated since after the BPF returns to power while the UPPL regime laid emphasise on quality education, conservation of mother nature and establishment of peace along with giving self employment avenues to youths. He also said illegal mining at Sonkosh River and other Rivers without a system will pose a serious threat to nature. He appealed the people to vote for the UPPL candidates.

Narzary said they had commitment to stay in NDA from 2020 to 2026 but after the latest political development has changed after the BPF decided to field candidates in 15 constituencies. He also said there had been no credential meaning to stay in NDA which is maintaining dual standard and so the UPPL will stand alone.
