USTM signs MoU with Kakojan College

GUWAHATI, Oct 20: In a significant development for the future of higher education in Jorhat district, the authorities of Kakojan College, a premiere higher educational institution of the region, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM).

The MoU was signed between the two educational institutions on Tuesday at the conference hall of USTM with Dr Ruprekha Bordoloi, principal of Kakojan College and Dr Anju Hazarika, registrar of USTM, as the signatories from both the ends. Dr Ruprekha Bordoloi said that the MoU which would last for the next three years, has opened up many joint ventures for qualitative uplift of academic, research and socio-economic atmosphere of the region.

“We will jointly conduct research works in emerging areas with local relevance by the students, scholars and faculty members of the university. We will also collaborate to organise extension and outreach activities like socio-economic and welfare initiatives for neighbouring and rural masses. USTM will offer scholarships for poor meritorious students for higher studies. They will also provide professional support to us. Extending collaborative support to the people in distress during calamities in the region is also one of the focus points of the MoU,” Dr Bordoloi added.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by prof G D Sarma, vice chancellor, and Dr B K Das, pro-VC of USTM, respectively, while Tufail Zilani, Lakhya protim Nirmolia and Pallab Pran Bora of Kakojan College respectively signed the MoU as witnesses.
