KOKRAJHAR, April 4:Â The All-Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Venture Elementary Teachers Association staged a three-hour sit in protest demonstration at MG Park in Kokrajhar on Monday demanding early provincialisation of the venture schools across the BTR districts as per the spirit of 6.3 clause of the BTR accord signed on January 27,2020.
Hundreds of venture school teachers from the districts of Bodoland Territorial Region participated during the protest demonstration holding placards, banners and shouted slogans demanding immediate steps to make provincialisation of the non-provincialised schools across the BTR districts.
Expressing resentment on the state government and Bodoland Territorial Region government for not initiating any step for the provincialisation of venture schools in Bodoland region, All BTR Elementary Teachers’ Association has been carrying out a series of agitational programmes to pressurise the government for the provincialisation of venture schools in Bodoland Territorial Region districts with immediate step.
A memorandum was submitted to the state chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BTR CEM Pramod Boro through the Kokrajhar deputy commissioner.
Notably, there are nearly 2700 teachers who are rendering services without any remuneration in 842 LP and UP venture schools (both in Bodo & Assamese) across the four districts of Bodoland Territorial region.
Speaker of the association, Nur Jamal Sheik has slammed the state government and BTR administration for not initiating any step for provincialisation of the venture schools in the region even after the state government had announced one-lakh’s job engagement in the state.
He has demanded that the 6.3 clause of the BTR accord must be implemented properly with letter and spirit while provincialisation of the venture schools is a must to facilitate quality educational environment for the students.
“We have been demanding for the provincialisation of venture schools across the BTR districts, yet the government has not given any response to our demands and issues,” said Sheik.
