Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 concludes at Kokrajhar University

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 28: A one-day conference on the theme of “Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026” was held on Saturday at Kokrajhar University. Organised by the NSS Unit of the university in collaboration with ‘My Bharat (Meri Yuva Bharat)’.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp at the university auditorium by Registrar Dr Banabeena Brahma. Retired Assam government administrative officer Prafulla Kumar Hazarika and Executive Magistrate of Kokrajhar, Shubham Sinha, attended as invited guests.

It is noteworthy that around 100 student participants from various educational institutions took part in the Kokrajhar district-level event. Participating institutions included Cotton University, Bodoland University, Fakiragram College, St Ann’s College, Kokrajhar Girls’ College, Inspiria Knowledge Campus and Kokrajhar University.

The participants mainly deliberated on the theme: “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy.” A panel of judges selected the top 10 participants at the district level to represent the Youth Parliament at the state level.

During the event, District Youth Officer Himanshu Kumar delivered a brief speech highlighting the importance of democracy and the active role of youth in strengthening it. The programme was attended by several academicians and students, including Dean of Student Welfare of Kokrajhar University Dr Bimal Kanti Basumatary, Head of the Political Science Department Dr Mamata Narzary and Head of the Political Science Department of St Ann’s College, Utpal Gaur Brahma, among others.
