Weeklong celebration of Lachit Divas in KA

DIPHU, Nov 20: As part of a weeklong celebration of Lachit Divas commemorating the 400th birth anniversary of Ahom General, Bir Lachit Borphukan, the Karbi Anglong district administration took up a series of programmes here on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, a tree plantation drive was taken up by the special principal chief conservator of forest and divisional forest officer, West Division at Chutianala LP School and in various educational institutions and Tamulbari District Council Reserve Forest.

The principal, Diphu Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) and joint director of Health Services have jointly organised a voluntary blood donation camp at DMC&H. The blood donation camp was conducted in collaboration with Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the student union of DMC&H.

The District Social Welfare Department also organised an awareness programme on child and women related issues here at Children’s Home, Birla in which the DC, Karbi Anglong, Madhumita Bhagawati took active participation; District Social Welfare officer, Helen Terangpi and others were present on the occasion.

Quiz competition was organised for the residents of Children’s Home. Prizes were later distributed to them.
