SIVASAGAR, Sept 28: World Anti-rabies Day was celebrated in the Sivasagar Veterinary Hospital premises on Wednesday with the participation of a large number of pet owners. The function held on the occasion was inaugurated by Dr. K D Goswami, retired District Veterinary officer (DVO).
Dr. Akshay Bhatt Kesari (DVO), Sivasagar, and Dr. Biren Das (retd DVO) in their speech spoke on the zoonotic importance of the day in preventing undesirable deaths and also on Louis Pasteur, the inventor of the world’s first effective rabies vaccine. Dr. Prince Bora delivered the welcome address while the internee students Shivani Gogoi, Atmika Barman, Vedanta Phukan, Kuntal Kashyap Buragohain and Suresh Deori conducted the free vaccination programme for over 150 pets. Representatives of the medicine companies Petman Kind, Ariecel Vet, Varsha, Virbac, Drecels, Sky EC, Juggat Pharma, Mahavir Pharma, Sapna Medical, etc also participated in the programme.
