A team of students from Tezpur University and Tezpur college participated in the event held in LGBRIMH with their skit presentation and awareness programmes on how to prevent suicide. A team of LGBRIMH organised awareness programmes with various activities in Panchmile Higher Secondary School near Tezpur in presence of the students of the school. Students of LGBRIMH and different departments of LGBRIMH including Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, Child Psychiatry and Psychiatric Social Work undertook various activities for patients and their attendants during the observance of the day.

It is to be noted that the World Suicide Prevention Day programme has been conducted by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO) since 2003 with the objective to improve education about suicide, raise awareness that suicide is preventable and decrease stigmatisation associated with suicide.
