KOKRAJHAR, Feb 19: The two-day visit of the world’s youngest professor, Soborno Isaac Bari, concluded on Monday with an interaction program with student fraternities and teachers in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Prof Bari arrived in Kokrajhar, the heart of Bodoland Territorial Region, on Sunday and was warmly welcomed and felicitated with a traditional aronai and bouquet by student fraternities and Bodoland University authorities at the Bodoland University complex.
Remarkably, a recipient of the ‘Global Child Prodigy Award’ from Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, Soborno Isaac Bari is a Bengali-American prodigy. He received recognition for his talent from former US President Obama in 2016 and from Harvard University in 2018.
Prof Bari graced the Bodoland University’s second edition of the Inter-College Youth Festival, organised by the university, and interacted with students and teachers from different educational institutions across BTR districts. Nearly 5000 students, professors, and lecturers participated in the interaction session.
On Monday, Prof Bari participated in another interaction session cum public lecture program organised by the Department of Education, Government of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Chandamari in Kokrajhar. A significant number of participants, including students, teachers, and citizens from different areas, attended the session and witnessed Prof Bari’s public lecture.
Addressing the media, Prof Bari emphasised the importance of mathematics and science in the modern world, stating that they are crucial for understanding what goes on behind the scenes. He mentioned his efforts to engage future generations in fostering interest and proper application of mathematics and science.
Bari often appears at universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he teaches both physics and computer science. He authored the book ‘The Love’, in which he aims to dismantle prejudice and hatred stemming from religious differences and biases.
Attendees, including student fraternities and teachers, expressed their happiness and satisfaction with the public lecture of Prof Bari at Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar. They considered the event an impressive program, providing an opportunity to gain educational knowledge and information about modern mathematics and science, thereby aiding in the career-building of young generations.
