JORHAT, July 26: A 26-year-old man identified as Gobind Bora from the Malow Ali area of Jorhat was arrested by police recently on charges of physically and mentally torturing his elderly parents and pregnant wife.
According to a source, the accused had been allegedly subjecting his family members to repeated abuse in recent times.

The incident, captured on a mobile phone by neighbours, quickly went viral on social media platforms, prompting immediate police intervention.
Following the circulation of the video, Jorhat police arrested Gobind Bora and registered a case (Jorhat PS Case No. 374/2025) under Sections 85, 293, 351(2), 117(2), and 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused’s father, mother, and wife were later taken to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) for necessary medical treatment, officials confirmed.
