NAGAON, April 11: Altogether three youths of Bishnupur path near Dimaruguri Tiniali, on the outskirts of the small town were declared dead in a tragic road mishap near Mahrul Tiniali on Monday night which apparently has cast a pall of gloom in the entire region of Dimaruguri.

The tragic incident took place when the youths riding on a scooty, rammed into a speeding truck coming from the same direction around 10:45 pm on Monday night. The victim youths have been identified as Pankaj Das, Madhurya Das and Bikram Das of Dimaruguri Bishnupur path in the town.
Following the incident, some locals from the area went on a rampage and created ruckus on the spot. The locals staged a protest against the local traffic police personnel and also detained the incharge officer of Nagaon traffic branch for over an hour on the accident site, sources said, adding that inspector Monuj Rajbangshi, officer in-charge of Nagaon PS rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Besides, he also managed to free the traffic incharge from the agitators. Meanwhile, police sent the bodies of the victims to Nagaon Civil Hospital for post-mortem and also brought the truck to Nagaon PS for further legal proceedings, sources said.
The driver of the truck managed to escape from the clutches of the local residents after the incident, sources stated further.
