Speaking on the occasion, Renu Sud Karnad, managing director – HDFC Ltd said, “Guwahati known as ‘Gateway to North East India’ is the biggest city in Assam and also the largest metropolis in North East India. It is an important business hub in the north-east region. The tea sector in Guwahati contributes a substantial share of the economy of the city, petroleum being the most important industry in the city. The city is witnessing significant economic activities and hence it offers an excellent opportunity for growth as there would be a lot of demand for housing in and around the city. The pandemic has also reaffirmed the importance of owning a house.”

Notably, HDFC has also launched a host of digitally enabled services to help customers conveniently manage their home loan accounts. In the housing finance space, HDFC is the first institute to emphasise online loan processing during the lockdown. HDFC’s thrust on digital initiatives and inherent demand for housing has been instrumental in achieving the milestone of approving retail home loans of over Rs 2 lakh crore in FY22, the highest ever in a financial year.
