James Cameroon, the director renowned for targeting precision and perfection in every project he undertakes, has yet again delivered a masterpiece for us. This masterpiece has the potential to propel every emotion in us as we get swayed by the magnificence presented onscreen.

The story continues after the incidents that transpired in the first part of Pandora. The focus shifts to the adventures of Jack Sully and his family covering the never-ending hurdles paving their way. The fantasy land captivates us through its journey and introduces us to newer characters. The touching family values represented among the families, especially Jack Sully’s, are strikingly captivating and something to look out for. The first part introduced us to the humanoid version called Navi. Here we are introduced to yet another existing tribe. However, there is a possibility to witness a loophole in the plot, for it could have stood out differently if it had showcased some other facets of the story rather than being more vengeance-centric. Nonetheless, with more movies on the line, there is a scope for vast exploration and expansion on the makers’ part.

Cameroon has a way of executing beauty by entwining and displaying a scenario that captures the existing bond between living creatures and nature. The relationship has a much deeper significance that oozes the essence of divinity. This bond is represented and reinforced through a peaceful and understanding coexistence between living beings and their flora and fauna. It brings to light the significance of this bond that strikes harmony in living.

The subtitle ‘The way of water’ stands in tune with the mesmerizing underwater scenes depicted in the movie. The breathtaking visuals throughout the running time, and especially the underwater scenes testifies the endeavour the team has undergone for 13 long years to deliver the brilliance. The impeccable visuals are surreal to our eyes that bestow the delight of magic we can’t get enough of. We are likely to encounter all forms of emotions, ranging from anger to soothing delight, to ecstasy, to getting bewitched, to a tearing heartache. One will wish to embrace more feelings as one gets deeply touched and connected.

The technical aspect that tremendously dominates the essence of the movie, as reflected through the motion capture animation and visual effects, has been tremendously worked on. The actors and their motion capture performances paved their way into our hearts with utmost precision. Although the first part introduced us to the world of animation, the gradual technological advancement makes the sequel all the more technically profound and praiseworthy. In addition, the music and background score fuel the thrill. The music perfectly syncs with the scenes and therefore elevates the beauty into our eyes.

Our cinematic experience is never going in vain with the treasure of a movie delivered to us after a decade-long gap. Everyone is up for a visual ride. The 3D experience makes it more appealing and worth all the penny. (The author can be reached at riha96jaishi@gmail.com)
