New Delhi, May 11: Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi has accepted an invitation for a public debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the topic of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The invitation was extended by former Supreme Court Judge Madan B Lokur, former High Court Chief Justice AP Shah, and senior journalist N Ram.
The letter inviting the two political leaders was dated May 9 and expressed the belief that a public debate on a non-partisan and non-commercial platform would be beneficial for citizens.
Gandhi responded on the following day, stating that he or Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge would be pleased to participate in the debate.
He also mentioned that the details and format of the debate could be discussed if the Prime Minister agrees to participate. Following Gandhi’s acceptance, BJP leader Tejasvi Surya questioned Gandhi’s credentials, asking ‘Who is Rahul Gandhi that PM Modi should debate with him?’
