New Delhi, March 27: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam on April 6, following the cancellation of his previously scheduled visit on March 14.
During his visit, the home minister will engage in election campaigns, addressing large gatherings in Lakhimpur and Hojai, as per sources.
Previously, it was reported that Amit Shah would defer his visit to Assam until after the Lok Sabha elections, following the cancellation of his two-day visit on March 14 and 15. However, the reasons behind the cancellation were not disclosed. His agenda for the visit included party meetings and public addresses ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign, Amit Shah was slated to hold rallies in Margherita in Tinsukia and Nazira in Sivasagar. Additionally, he was scheduled to address a town hall program in Guwahati on March 15, as announced by state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita.
Amit Shah was also expected to inaugurate the Bardowa Project in Assam’s Nagaon district, the birthplace of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva, on March 15, as disclosed by Assam Water Resource Minister Pijush Hazarika.
The Bardowa Project, valued at Rs 188 crore, aims to develop Batadrava Than as a hub of art, culture, and spirituality. The state government has undertaken the Batadrava Than beautification project with an allocated budget of Rs 188 crore, covering an area of 165 bighas.
