Canada, Nov 4: Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Khalistani terrorist based in the United States, released a video on Friday threatening to blow up an Air India flight on November 19, the same day as a scheduled cricket World Cup match in Gujarat.
He urged Sikhs worldwide to avoid Air India flights from November 19 onwards, calling it life-threatening. He also warned the Indian government, suggesting the closure of the Indira Gandhi International Airport on November 19.
In the video, the terror group leader explained their choice of November 19 for the attack, linking it to the ‘World Terror Cup’ final match and their claim of Sikh genocide in India. This is not the first instance of Pannun threatening the Indian government with an attack. Last month, he mentioned a potential Hamas-like attack on India, referencing the Israel-Palestine conflict. His latest threat comes amidst deteriorating India-Canada relations following the killing of a Khalistani terrorist in Ottawa. Previously, after Pannun threatened to disrupt the cricket World Cup, Ahmedabad police registered an FIR against him under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
