Vehicle catches fire at Umroi airport junction in Meghalaya, no casualties reported

Shillong, May 11: A passenger vehicle traveling from Mawblang village in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi District to a retreat center in Umroi Nongrah caught fire near Umroi Airport junction today at around 12 noon.

The vehicle, driven by 26-year-old Tyngshain Maring, experienced ignition problems near NH-44, leading to a sudden fire. Despite the fire emergency services’ efforts, the vehicle was consumed by the flames and ultimately ruined.

Thankfully, there were no casualties reported from this incident. The charred vehicle has been moved to the Umroi Police Investigation Center for further inspection and investigation of the fire’s cause.
