IMPHAL, Sept 23: Union minister of State for External Affairs and Education, RK Ranjan said that the Central Government would like to include names of at least 100 unsung heroes from Northeast region in a composite history of freedom struggle of India under preparation.
The Union minister said this while inaugurating a three-day ‘floating photo exhibition’ on the life and mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Loktak Lake in Manipur’s Bishnupur district recently.
The floating exhibition inaugurated recently is the first of its kind held in the country. It may also probably be the first ever in the globe, officials of the Central Bureau of Communication of the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting said.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modiji wants a composite history of freedom struggle, not a dynastic based history. In it he would like to include at least 100 freedom fighters from the Northeast,” the Union minister said.
Ranjan said that it is a well-known fact that India got freedom from the British by the concerted efforts of the people. However, names and contributions of only a few leaders and dynasties were reflected in Indian history, he added.
In its 75 years of journey after independence, India has achieved many milestones in the field of development, Ranjan also said.
India producing two vaccines against Covid-19 within nine months was one of the significant achievements of the country under the leadership of the incumbent Prime Minister, he claimed. The country is also supplying the vaccines free of cost to the neighbouring countries, the Union minister added.
Imphal regional office of the Central Bureau of Communication of the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting hosted the exhibition being held at a floating hut of the Loktak Lake Tourism Development Co-operative Society Ltd, Sendra.
As many as 88 photos of eight years of Seva Sushasan, Garib Kalyan and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and around photos of 11 local freedom fighters were being displayed in the exhibition which the bureau organised under its Integrated Communication & Outreach Programme (ICOP).
The Union minister inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of B Narayanan, director general (NEZ), Guwahati of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India and Tongbram Robindro Singh, chairman of MSPDCL, Government of Manipur among other dignitaries.
The exhibition will last till September 23. (NNN)
