4 file nominations in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, March 26: Four candidates including sitting Congress MP, Vincent H Pala have filed their nomination papers from the Shillong parliamentary seat for the upcoming elections to the 18th Lok Sabha to be held on April 19.

The other candidates include Robertjune Kharjahrin from the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA), Ricky AJ Syngkon from the Voice of the People Party (VPP) and independent Prof Lakhon Kma.

Earlier, NPP candidate and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh and independent candidate Peter Shallam have filed their nominations during the third day of filing of nominations.

Altogether six candidates will contest from the Shillong parliamentary constituency after the BJP has decided to extend full support to the NPP.

The last date of filing of nomination was Wednesday.

Scrutiny of nominations will be held on Thursday and the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be on March 30. (NNN)
