Amit Shah inaugurates RRU’s Arunachal Pradesh Campus

‘RRU will create a strong foundation with a well-trained and professional manpower from the North-East Region,’ says Union Home minister

NAMSAI (ARUNACHAL PRADESH), May 22: Amit Shah during his two day visit of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday at a public meeting in Namsai virtually inaugurated transit campus of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) established in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.

Rashtriya Raksha University which is headquartered in Gandhinagar, Gujarat has opened its first campus in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. The transit campus is near district session court, Gumin Nagar, 2 Mile, Pasighat East Siang District in Arunachal Pradesh.

Rashtriya Raksha University, an institution of national importance of India, pioneering national security and police university of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is established by the Parliament of India, Act No. 31 of 2020. RRU was touted as the “Jewel of the Nation that is helping us strengthen the vision of Sashakt Bharat” by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On March 12, 2022, the Union Home minister and Cooperation minister Amit Shah had expressed the desire to open campuses across the nation.

Transit campus of RRU was virtually inaugurated by Union Home minister and minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah in the presence of Pema Khandu, chief minister, Arunachal Pradesh. Vice-chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel of RRU and official from the Government of Arunachal Pradesh exchanged an MoU for the opening of new RRU Campus in Arunachal Pradesh.

On this occasion, Amit Shah said, “RRU, which opened its first campus outside its HQ in Gujarat, will create a strong foundation with a well-trained and professional manpower from the North-East Region for the police, security and paramilitary forces to be absorbed across the country.”

In his speech, he stated that with the opening of RRU Campus in the region, many possibilities will be opened for the local youth. On this occasion, he congratulated Pema Khandu for hosting the first RRU Campus outside of Gujarat and reassured that several benefits will translate from the establishment of RRU for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

The RRU Arunachal Campus will contribute to the development of a rigorous curriculum and, inculcating skills, high standards of patriotism, discipline, ethics and moral values in the youth of the states in the region. The training shall be provided by dedicated and competent serving and retired internal security and police personnel with a strong emphasis on physical and mental fitness among others – fire, safety, disaster as appropriate. The training will be imparted with the clear vision of their absorption in the police and security forces in Arunachal Pradesh and the wider region.
