ITANAGAR, May 5: In a significant move aimed at supporting government employees and pensioners, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh has announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR), raising the current rate from 53% to 55% of the basic pay and pension. The revised rates will take retrospective effect from January 1, 2025.
This enhancement will benefit a wide range of stakeholders including: All India Services (AIS) officers serving or posted under the State Government, Central Government employees on deputation to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, State Government employees and Pensioners and family pensioners.
The total financial implication of this decision is estimated at Rs 73.22 crore for a 14-month period, with a monthly outlay of Rs 5.23 crore.
For the four-month arrear period from January to April 2025, the DA component is estimated at Rs 20.80 crore (Rs 5.20 crore per month) and the DR component at Rs 0.12 crore (rs 0.03 crore per month), amounting to a total of Rs 20.92 crore. The arrears will be paid in cash, offering timely financial relief to employees and pensioners.
Starting May 2025, the revised DA and DR rates will be incorporated into the monthly salary and pension disbursements.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, while congratulating government employees and pensioners, emphasized that the decision reflects the State Government’s unwavering commitment to their welfare and aims to mitigate the financial strain caused by inflation.
He expressed optimism that government employees would reciprocate the gesture by carrying out their responsibilities with greater dedication and sincerity.
