According to a GRP official, they received a tip-off early this morning about the movement of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants at Udaipur Railway Station, just as the Kanchanjunga Express was approaching.

“Acting on the information, we conducted a search operation at the station and found one man and four women behaving suspiciously. They presented Aadhaar cards, but upon closer inspection, the documents appeared to be fake. During interrogation, they admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals who had crossed the international border with the help of a tout. Their plan was to reach Gujarat via Sealdah in West Bengal. We have since handed them over to the Tripura Police for further action,” the official stated.

One of the detained individuals revealed to reporters that she had paid Rs 15,000 to the tout to facilitate the border crossing.

“I am from Bangladesh, and the tout charged me Rs 15,000 to help me cross the border. There were five of us traveling together. He also provided us with Aadhaar cards just yesterday. We crossed the border the day before yesterday and stayed overnight at the tout’s house before proceeding with our journey. We came here seeking work and a better livelihood because the cost of essential goods in our country has risen significantly. The situation there is quite difficult,” she said.
