DIMAPUR, April 24 (NNN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) said it is amused to see the clarification issued by the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) where the DGM, Huwuto Sema said that the IOCL tankers were at the “adulteration site for repairing works” on the night of April 21.
In a statement, the Nagaland based political party said, “The video evidence clearly shows IOCL tankers being connected to the motor pumps used for fuel adulteration, and when the RPP team entered the premises adulteration activity was in progress so there is no question of the trucks being there for repairing on that particular night. Very importantly, unless one is stupid, no fully loaded tanker drivers will enter workshops where gas or electric works are carried out”. The RPP added, “As for his statement on the GPS Live tracking being fitted into the oil tankers it clearly goes to show that the IOCL depot in Dimapur was very much aware of fuel adulteration racket in that particular area. In fact the active participation of the local IOCL in the racket cannot be ruled out.”
The RPP then said it knew that the DGM was desperately trying to save his job but giving “idiotic excuses” is not helping his case. The RPP requested the IOCL higher ups to see that the DGM is reprimanded and action taken.
Secondly, the RPP said the continued “deafening silence” of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) coalition in Nagaland on this “multi crore scam is nothing but an admission that the Food and Civil Supplies department is directly involved in the racketeering through diversion of Kerosene to the fuel racketeers”.
The RPP requested the UDA government and the Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies to show some guts and stop running scared on the issue.
The RPP then said that the state government should issue clarification on the issues as to how many litres of kerosene the state of Nagaland receives each month, and also as to how many agencies across Nagaland are alloted the same.
According to the RPP, as per the video, the name of the accused clearly mentioned by those in the adulteration site is also an accused in a previous adulteration case. “So, the authorities’ man-hunting for some Ashok is akin to ignoring the elephant in the room”, the RPP added.
