Imphal, April 2: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) lodged a complaint on Tuesday alleging violations of the Model Code of Conduct in the state. The complaint, submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state and the Election Commission of India (ECI), calls for legal action against the violators.
The MPCC, led by Malemkhomba Salam, chairman of the party’s social media and Advocate Rabi Khan, vice chairman of the legal department, pointed out instances of violations in several government notifications and advertisements.
They cited a recruitment notification for 1,140 pre-primary teachers and advertisements for beneficiary schemes, including the ‘Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme’ for women and the ‘Prime Minister Awas Yojana (G)’, issued despite the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct ahead of the Lok Sabha general elections.
The MPCC claimed that the publication of such notifications is a severe breach of the Model Code of Conduct and raised concerns about their impact on the electoral process. The state Congress unit has urged the authorities to take appropriate action against those responsible for issuing these notifications.
