Meghalaya: Conrad Sangma led government approves proposal for adaptation of NCERT text books with modifications

Shillong, Nov 16: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma led government has approved the proposal for adaptation of NCERT text books with modification in certain subjects.

The adaptation will allow modifications in the NCERT textbooks from class 1 to X. Additionally for schools teaching in local/vernacular language, the necessary changes in language will be done for the adaptation to take place.

The process of adaptation and modiciation will beging from the next acadamic year.

Further, the The Meghalaya cabinet has resolved to establish the Meghalaya Education Recruitment Board (MERB). Approximately 187 positions at the Secondary, Higher Secondary, and Higher and Technical Education levels have remained vacant for 3 to 4 years.

The formation of the Board is expected to expedite and streamline the recruitment process significantly. The Board has been tasked to complete the recruitment process within a period of 3 to 6 months. Furthermore, the Board will oversee recruitment for all education-related matters.
