Millet Food Mela held in West Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, June: 21: Millet Food Mela: Mission Life- Lifestyle for Environment was held at Nawaibill in West Karbi Anglong by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The programme was held at Adarsh Rastra Bhasa High School, Nawaibill with Social Development Organisation, Kheroni Charali, West Karbi Anglong.

Asst Prof & HoD, Hindi, Kapili College, Chhotelal Chauhan addressed the gathering on millet in our diet and its benefits in health. Asst Prof Dept of Hindi Udali College, Dr Shiv Jee Chauhan said millet as food provides essential fibre to the ailing which will boost their immunity and help in gaining weight. Asst Prof & HoD, History, Kapili College, Jeetendra Harijan spoke on the life style for environment.

On the occasion, 5 traditional millet varieties were presented by various tribes and communities. Such as Karbi traditional millet, Dimasa traditional millet, Bhojpuri traditional millet, Nepali traditional millet, Assamese traditional millet, etc.

The Millet Food Mela was attended by Asst Teacher, Rajesh Kr. Chauhan, Ashok Kr. Singh; Asst Teacher, Sanjit Harijan; Asst Prof of Udali College, Dr Shio Jee Chauhan; Head Master of ARB High School, Ramesh Ch Chauhan; secretary of Social Development Organisation, Dhanraj Harijan and more than 100 youths.
