GUWAHATI, July 28: Chief minister Neiphiu Rio declared that he stood by the stand made by his Manipur counterpart, chief minister N Biren Singh who had reportedly told not only the European Parliament but other Northeastern states not to interfere in the internal matter of another state since they have no knowledge about the ground reality in Manipur.
Rio said this while responding to reporters at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday when asked about his views on Singh’s statement.
Regarding the tripartite talks vis-à-vis the ENPO demand, he said it all depended on the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) but assured that as a people’s representative, he would share details with the people when talks commence.
He also refrained from commenting on the Framework Agreement.
When asked on the update about the report of a committee formed to study issues and problems regarding construction of a four-lane road between Kohima and Dimapur, Rio replied that the government was examining various options and all aspects related to the project. He also added that all such matters were currently under study.
He also expressed concern on safety of those individuals who chose to travel on the route, as it involved risks.
