To train over 500 street food vendors to further elevate food hygiene and safety

GUWAHATI, July 24: Expanding the geographical footprints of Project ‘Serve Safe Food’ in Meghalaya, Nestlé India has continued its collaboration with FDA, Meghalaya, and National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) to train over 500 street food vendors in East Khasi Hills, taking the total to 1,500 street food vendors in the state.
R M Kurbah, IAS, deputy commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya, said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have been associated with the Project, Commissionerate of Food Safety, Meghalaya, NASVI and Nestle India. The initiative has helped more than one thousand street food vendors in the past few years and I am confident that it will continue to strengthen them in the future. Since its inception in 2016, Project ‘Serve Safe Food’ has benefitted over 68,500 street food vendors across 26 states and 4 union territories by bringing together various stakeholders to create a comprehensive training programme.
Nestlé India launched Project Serve Safe Food in 2016 and has trained street food vendors across states including Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, UttarPradesh, and Uttarakhand.
