Online Building Permission System Introduced In Manipur

IMPHAL, Oct 7: Online Building Permission System (OBPS) which will make getting permission for construction of buildings within Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) easier launched on Thursday.

MAHUD minister Y Khemchand launched the system at a function held at City Convention Centre in Imphal on Thursday.

In his speech at the launching function, the minister said that with the launching of the system, getting permission for construction of buildings will be ‘just a mouse click away’.

OBPS had been already launched in some cities of the country to streamline the licensing and house construction process and facilitate the process of obtaining building permits.

Khemchand further said that the OBPS will also help making the public aware of building bye-laws besides easing the inconveniences and disturbances caused by imbalance in structures to the surrounding a great extent.

The system will also expedite project approvals and the construction process as the permission and approval has to be given within 30 days from the day of submission of the proposal, he said.

The minister also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 each to the first 10 persons who apply for the permission through registered architects.

OBPS is a single window portal for online scrutiny and approval of building plan applications within the municipal limits of Imphal city. 

Citizens, officials and other stakeholders can submit and track applications in real time and obtain approvals without having to physically visit an office, according to the officials.
