NAMSAI, Aug 23: A review meeting of major developmental activities in Namsai district was convened on Saturday at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of YVVJ Rajashekhar, IAS, Mentor Secretary.
According to an official statement, the meeting was attended by Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, in-charge Deputy Commissioner Nang Koliani Namchoom, Heads of Departments, and district officials.
During the meeting, Rajashekhar called upon the district administration and all Heads of Departments to lay greater emphasis on four critical sectors – Health, Education, NABARD-linked initiatives, and Infrastructure development.
He underlined that these areas are crucial for overall progress and urged officials to focus on practical implementation at the ground level.
In the Health sector, he reviewed the functioning of the district hospital and noted the acute shortage of human resources.
He suggested measures to address the manpower gap and directed officials to work out solutions for ensuring better service delivery to the people.
Taking up Education, Rajashekhar expressed serious concern over poor learning outcomes, particularly in mathematics and languages at the primary level.
He directed the concerned officers to collect data, identify specific gaps, and adopt corrective strategies to improve the situation.
He stressed that building strong foundations in early education would play a decisive role in the district’s future human resource development.
The Mentor Secretary also reviewed the status of the crop insurance scheme in the district.
He discussed the challenges being faced in its effective implementation and called upon the officials to streamline procedures so that farmers could benefit from the scheme without unnecessary delays.
On the subject of infrastructure development, he underscored the importance of accelerating the pace of ongoing projects.
He reminded the departments to adhere to deadlines and achieve set targets within specified timelines, stressing that timely execution was vital for ensuring public benefit and avoiding cost escalations.
The official statement added that Rajashekhar’s directions were aimed at ensuring convergence of departmental efforts, proper monitoring, and faster delivery of welfare and development schemes across Namsai district.
