Shillong, March 10: A suo-moto case has been registered in relation to the IED explosion in Shillong’s Lewduh Market area, Meghalaya, as per the police’s statement on Sunday.
The suo-motu FIR, registered at Sadar Police Station, is for further investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
The statement was released by the Superintendent of Police of East Khasi Hills District. The East Khasi Hills Police announced a reward of Rs 1,00,000 for credible information leading to the arrest of any person involved in the incident, assuring full confidentiality of the informer’s identity.
The East Khasi Hills Police, in a press release, stated their commitment to a meticulous investigation to apprehend the responsible parties. They clarified that no organisation has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.
The blast occurred around 10:30 pm last night, sending shockwaves through the Lewduh Market area, leaving residents startled. Investigations revealed that the bomb blast occurred at Themiew Mawlong.
The police stated that the IED was inside a metal container, suspected to have been caused by Gelatin sticks, causing damage to the adjacent buildings’ glass windows.
