GUWAHATI, Nov 10: The department of social welfare took a
proactive step in addressing substance abuse issues by
organising a one-day awareness seminar.
The event, held recently targeted various childcare
institutions, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), and
stakeholders in Wokha district.
Participants included members of the Child Welfare
Committee, the Juvenile Justice Board, and staff from Child
Care Institutions.
Ketho Angami, the founder and director of ARK Foundation
delivered an elaborate talk on understanding addiction. His
presentation covered aspects of the prevention and
management of substance abuse, providing valuable insights
into tackling this prevalent issue.
Shanchobeni from ARK Foundation complemented the
seminar by shedding light on the nature and types of
substance abuse counseling specifically within a Child Care
Institution (CCI) setup.
The programme, chaired by Mary Swuro, protection officer
(NIC), commenced with a welcome note from Dr Moasenla
Imchen, district child protection officer (DCPO) of Wokha.
