AGARTALA, Nov 2: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to suppress opposition activities in the state, following an alleged attack and arson at its party office in Bishalgarh sub-division, Sepahijala district.
TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha said unidentified miscreants vandalised, looted and set fire to the office on October 28. He claimed such incidents have been recurring since the BJP came to power in 2018.
“Since 2018, after the BJP formed the government, we have faced repeated attacks on our Bishalgarh office, including looting and arson. Despite drawing the administration’s attention, no action has been taken,” Saha said.
He alleged the attacks were aimed at obstructing opposition activities and criticised authorities for inaction, saying a sense of fear prevails in Bishalgarh and urging immediate intervention to ensure opposition parties can function without intimidation.
