AGARTALA, May 25: Tripura’s newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag, has reaffirmed the state police’s commitment to strengthening law and order through active community participation. He also highlighted the significant strides being made in Tripura’s ongoing campaign against drug abuse.
DGP Anurag made these remarks during his first official visit to Unakoti district after taking charge. During the visit, he chaired a high-level review meeting with senior police officials to evaluate the prevailing law and order situation and chalk out future strategies.
Present at the meeting were Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of various police stations, and senior officials from other security agencies. Also in attendance were DIG (Northern Range) Rati Ranjan Debnath and SP Avinash Rai, who supervises police operations in both North Tripura and Unakoti districts.
“This is my first visit to Unakoti as DGP. I have been here before as ADG (Law and Order) and DG (Intelligence). The police here are performing well, and I am pleased to report that the crime rate in this region has decreased by 24% so far this year,” Anurag noted.
He said the meeting included detailed discussions on strengthening coordination and public engagement.
“Our focus is on building closer ties with the community. Community policing is the way forward. We will direct more attention and resources to areas where challenges still persist,” he added.
Emphasizing the need for public cooperation, the DGP said, “A peaceful environment can only be achieved through mutual trust and collaboration. We are committed to Chief Minister Manik Saha’s vision of a drug-free Tripura. Our efforts are yielding results, and we will continue to strengthen our initiatives for the well-being of all citizens.”
