Tripura floods: Centre deploys additional NDRF teams

AGARTALA, Aug 22: The Central government has mobilized helicopters, additional boats, and teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to assist in the ongoing relief and rescue operations in flood-hit Tripura.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that he had spoken with Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha to assess the situation. “I spoke with CM Tripura, @DrManikSaha2 Ji, and reviewed the flood situation in the state. The Centre is deploying NDRF teams, along with boats and helicopters, to support the state government in its relief and rescue efforts. The Modi government stands firmly with our brothers and sisters in Tripura during this difficult time,” Shah stated.

Chief minister Dr Manik Saha also shared updates on X, expressing gratitude for the swift response from the Centre. He mentioned that arrangements were being made for helicopters to airlift stranded individuals from flood-affected areas. “I spoke to Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji about the grim flood situation in the state. He informed me that a total of eleven NDRF teams will be sent to Tripura from various locations in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. More boats will also be dispatched along with the NDRF teams. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble HM for the prompt assistance provided to the people of Tripura,” Saha wrote.

The Chief Minister added that the entire state government machinery has been working tirelessly to manage the unprecedented natural disaster. He also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of public representatives, social workers, and the general public during this challenging time.
