AGARTALA, March 24: Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a meeting on Monday with Rajiv Kaul, managing director of Kolkata’s Nicco Park, to discuss the establishment of an eco-park modeled after Nicco Park at Sachindranagar Colony in Jirania, West District.
Chowdhury stated that the entire state is progressing on the path of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Majlishpur is keeping pace with modernisation.
“To put the state’s tourism industry on the world map and make Tripura more attractive to both domestic and international tourists, a state-of-the-art eco-park will be built in Sachindranagar Colony, Jirania, at an estimated cost of about ₹50 crore, modeled after Kolkata’s Nicco Park,” he said.
He further mentioned that after receiving approval for the construction of this park under the central government’s ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0’ project, efforts are being made to expedite the work. To this end, he visited the entire area along with Kolkata Nicco Park Kaul, president Rahul Mitra, Arup Goswami, and secretary of the Tourism Department Uttam Kumar Chakma, along with other officials and local residents.
“The construction of this park will not only generate employment opportunities but also enhance the quality of life for the people in this area,” he added.
