ITANAGAR, May 6: Nestled in the serene landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district, Kaisu is a small village with a big message — a message of cleanliness, unity, and sustainable living. Home to just 232 residents across 39 households (as per the 2011 Census), Kaisu has made a remarkable name for itself in the state”s developmental narrative.

In 2021, Kaisu earned the prestigious Chief Minister’s Cleanest Village Award, becoming one of only nine villages across the state to receive this honour. The award, part of a state government initiative, is designed to promote hygiene, environmental consciousness, and community-driven cleanliness. It is a symbol of how even the smallest communities can make a significant impact when driven by shared values and goals.

The recognition was formally presented during the 73rd Republic Day celebrations in Itanagar, where the efforts of Kaisu and other winning villages were celebrated with pride. Though specific details of Kaisu”s sanitation projects remain limited, the award stands as a testament to the villagers” commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Kaisu”s success is rooted in strong community participation. The villagers have demonstrated how unity, awareness, and responsibility can lead to lasting change. From conducting regular cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns, to involving children and youth in environmental activities, Kaisu has built a culture that respects nature and prioritizes public health.

The visible results—clean surroundings, hygienic practices, and a spirit of cooperation—set Kaisu apart as a model for other rural communities. The village”s efforts not only ensure better living conditions but also open doors for rural tourism and instill a deep sense of community pride.
