13th All India Railway Archery Championship Kicks Off In Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Oct 9: The 13th All India Railway (Men & Women) Archery Championship, 2023, is being organized by the Northeast Frontier Railway. This championship commenced on 08th October, 2023, at the N.F. Railway Sports Association Football Stadium in Pandu, Guwahati. The event was inaugurated by Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway, on 09th October, 2023, in the presence of other Railway officials. The championship is scheduled to continue until 10th October, 2023.

A total of 11 teams from various Zones and Production Units of Indian Railways are participating in the championship. These teams include NFR (Northeast Frontier Railway, Maligaon), ER (Eastern Railway, Kolkata), SECR (South East Central Railway, Bilaspur), SER (South Eastern Railway, Kolkata), SCR (South Central Railway, Secunderabad), SR (Southern Railway, Chennai), ECR (East Central Railway, Hajipur), ECoR (East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar), NER (North Eastern Railway, Gorakhpur), CLW (Chittaranjan Locomotive Works), and RPF (Railway Protection Force). A total of 50 players, including 08 top-ranking players of Indian Railways and 05 players of international repute, are participating in this championship.

Notable participants include Olympian, Arjuna Awardee, and Padmashree Awardee L Bombayla Devi from Eastern Railway, Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Mangal Singh Champia from Eastern Railway, Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Rahul Banerjee from Eastern Railway, Olympian Laxmi Rani Majhi from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, and Asian Games Bronze Medallist Trisha Deb from Eastern Railway.

The Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA) aims to create and develop new talent in the field of sports and promote events like Archery among the youth in this region.
