Khel Maharan 2.0: LAC-level competitions kicks off in Barhampur

NAGAON, Dec 19: The assembly constituency level sports competition under 3rd phase of the Khel Maharan 2.0, the state’s largest sports event, kicked off in Barhampur based Sports Complex playground on Thursday here.

The event, which is part of the state-level Khel Maharan 2.0, will feature competitions in various sports disciplines.

The Barhampur zone of the Khel Maharan will see participation from around 4,000 athletes from 28 gram panchayats and one ULB under Barhamapur assembly constituency here.

The event was inaugurated by the local MLA Jitu Goswami, who is also the president of the Khel Maharan.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Kaliabor district BJP president Babul Bora, general secretary Arvind Choudhury, Purnigudam Mandal BJP president Mintu Sarma, and former athletes and sports organizers Prabhat Ch Bora and Mrinal Bora.

The event also saw the participation of several prominent personalities from Barhampur, including the general secretary of the Barhampur Sports Association, Plaban Baruah.

The inaugural ceremony featured a flag-hoisting ceremony, a torch relay, and a procession by the athletes. The event also featured cultural programmes, including a performance by the Barhampur 9th Assam Police Battalion band party. The Khel Maharan 2.0 will continue till December 22, and is expected to boost the sports scene in Barhampur constituency so far.
