KOKRAJHAR, Dec 27: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) STC, Kathalguri and Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) playground in Kokrajhar are all set to host the group III matches for the 76th Hero Senior Men’s National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy, 2022-23 which is scheduled to be held from Wednesday (28th December).
A total six states are participating the group III event which is organising jointly by government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Assam Football Association (AFA) and All India Football Federation (AIFF).
An organising committee for the league matches has been formed with BTR executive member Daobaisa Boro as chairman and BTC secretary Naren Chandra Basumatary as member secretary to meet a smooth and grand success of the national football event in Bodoland region as well state as a whole.
Necessary preparation and arrangements are so far completed this evening for organising the football mega event at two playgrounds at SAI STC, Kathalguri and KDSA playground respectively.
All participating teams have arrived in Kokrajhar who are seeing busy on practice at different playgrounds in Kokrajhar.
The teams include Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Goa, Nagaland and Uttar Pradesh.
In the inaugural day on Wednesday, Arunachal Pradesh will take on Tamil Nadu at SAI STC playground, Uttar Pradesh will take on Nagaland scheduled to be held at KDSA playground, Kokrajhar and Assam will take on Goa to be played at SAI STC, Kathalguri in Kokrajhar.
Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary will grace as chief guest on the inaugural programme at SAI STC, Kathalguri.
Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Pramod Boro, Independent Director of NRL Sudip Pradhan are attending as guests in the event.
A cultural demonstration will also be organised to mark the event which would be witnessing huge thronging of sports lovers in both the playgrounds in Kokrajhar.
BTR executive member and chairman of organising committee, Daobaisa Boro told that the preparation and arrangements have so far completed with arranging galleries in both the playgrounds in Kokrajhar.
