DONGKAMUKAM, July 4: Baithalangso MLA, Rupsing Teron inaugurated the 46th All Assam Inter Dist Open Chess Championship, 2023 at Waisong Indoor Stadium, Dongkamukam here Tuesday. The tournament has been organised by West Karbi Anglong District Chess Association (WKADCA) in collaboration with West Karbi Anglong Sports Association (WKASA under the aegis of All Assam Chess Association (AACA). The tournament will culminate on July 8.

The MLA welcomed the participants and thanked the organisers for the event here at Dongkamukam. “This backward area will rise into the limelight for the sporting event and promote the event and hope it will be a successful one,” Teron said.
President AACA, Kandarpa Kalita said chess is a game that teaches many skills. He also declared that the prize money for the champion team this time will be Rs. 1.25 lakhs (one lakh twenty five thousand).
General Secretary, AACA Rajiv Dhar and president, WKASA, Ronjit Ronghang and general secretary, Sanjay Kro and other former Assam chess champions attended the opening ceremony. Over a hundred participants from different districts of Assam are participating in the competition.
