NAGAON, July 13: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaon, organised a field day to promote millet cultivation and raise awareness among farmers about its benefits. The event took place at Niz Khatowal near Samaguri in the district, where farmers had the opportunity to learn about millets and showcase the crop.
Dr Niranjan Deka, principal scientist and head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon, provided valuable information about millets, emphasising their nutritional value. He encouraged the participants to disseminate seeds to fellow farmers in the upcoming season. Dr Deka shared solid data on millets and urged farmers to allocate more crop areas for cultivating different varieties of millets. The program saw the participation of over 25 farmers from the region.
Keshab Bora, agriculture inspector of Rupahi ADO Circle, Monika Hira, gram pradhan of Niz Khatowal, and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon, also attended the program. Millet promotion initiatives are being carried out by Krishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with various line departments such as the District Agriculture department, NABARD, and through mass media, aiming to create awareness about the significant benefits of millets and their consumption.Â
